Troubleshooting Ring Bridge (2nd Gen)

Learn how to troubleshoot your Ring Bridge (2nd Gen).

Bridge (2nd Gen) connects Ring Smart Lighting devices to the Amazon Sidewalk1 network, extending Amazon Sidewalk coverage to the home. Learn how to use the Amazon Sidewalk feature.

It allows you to control your smart lights from anywhere using the Ring app, and lets Ring Smart Lighting products interact with other Ring products for enhanced security.

Initial setup and firmware updates

When you initially set up your Ring Bridge (2nd Gen), the device will complete firmware updates for a few minutes.

Allow up to 10 minutes for the updates to download and connect to the Sidewalk network, then open the Ring app to check the status of the setup.

If you can't get past the “Is the light flashing blue?" screen

  1. Press the pairing button on your Ring Bridge (2nd Gen), to enter pairing mode manually.
  2. Wait until the blue LED starts flashing quickly, which shows that it is in pairing mode.

If you're not sure your Ring Bridge (2nd Gen) is connected after setting it up

  1. Wait up to 10 minutes for the updates to download and your Ring Bridge (2nd Gen) to be online.
  2. Relaunch the Ring app.
    • Tap
      Change network connection
      option and re-select your wifi network, making sure you enter the password correctly.
  3. Power cycle your Bridge (2nd Gen) by unplugging the power cable from the wall and plugging it back in.
    • Wait for five minutes and then check your network connection again.
  4. Press the button on the side of your Bridge (2nd Gen) to put it into pairing mode, and set it up in the Ring app again.

Pairing your Bridge (2nd Gen)

To put your Bridge (2nd Gen) into pairing mode, press the button on your device. You’ll see a fast blue blinking light when it is in paring mode.

If you don’t see a fast blue blinking light, try unplugging and re-plugging the device. If it does not respond even after rebooting, contact Customer Support.

Resetting your Bridge (2nd Gen)

To reset your Bridge (2nd Gen), put a pin into the pinhole on the side of the device.

Press for one to five seconds to restart the device without clearing data. It will then reconnect to the cloud and clears any temporary connection issues.

Press for more than 10 seconds to perform a complete factory reset. The device will need to be set up again for your smart lights to use it as a gateway. When it is set up, the lights will automatically reconnect.

If your Bridge (2nd Gen) isn’t lighting up when you plug it in

  1. Wait another minute.
  2. Check the power supply from the power source to make sure your Bridge (2nd Gen) is receiving electricity.

If your Bridge (2nd Gen) isn’t connecting to wifi

  1. Sign out of the Ring app and re-open it.
  2. Check that your Bridge (2nd Gen) is turned on.
  3. Check the power supply from the power source to make sure your Bridge (2nd Gen) is receiving electricity.
  4. Restart your router and run through the setup process again.
  5. Make sure you have entered your wifi password correctly.

If you’re moving and want to take your Bridge (2nd Gen) with you

After moving your Bridge (2nd Gen) to a new location:

  1. At the new location, press the side button on your Bridge (2nd Gen) to put your device into pairing mode.
  2. Run through the setup and installation process.

If your smart light isn’t communicating with other lights

  1. Make sure the light is properly set up in the Ring app.
  2. Make sure your lights are properly grouped together.
  3. Check for any physical barriers between the lights that could be preventing communication. If possible, try moving the lights closer together.

If your Bridge (2nd Gen) shows as offline in the Ring app

  1. Check that your Bridge (2nd Gen) is turned on.
  2. Check the power supply from the power source to make sure your Bridge (2nd Gen) is receiving electricity.
  3. in the Ring app and make sure your Bridge (2nd Gen) is up to date.
    • Tap
      Change network connection
      and re-select your wifi network, making sure you enter the password correctly.
  4. Power cycle your Bridge (2nd Gen) by unplugging the power cable from the wall and plugging it back in.
  5. Restart your router and run through the setup process again. Make sure you enter your wifi password correctly.

If your Bridge (2nd Gen) disconnects from wifi after being online

  1. Check that your Bridge (2nd Gen) is turned on.
  2. Check the power supply from the power source to make sure your Bridge (2nd Gen) is receiving electricity.
  3. Try unplugging your Bridge (2nd Gen) and plugging it back in again. It should reconnect automatically.
  4. in the Ring app and make sure your Bridge is up to date.
    • Tap
      Change network connection
      option and re-select your wifi network, making sure you enter the password correctly.
  5. Restart your router and run through the setup process again. Make sure you enter your wifi password correctly.
  6. Try completely resetting your Bridge (2nd Gen) back to factory settings by putting a pin in the pinhole on the side of the case for at least 10 seconds. Then run through the setup process again.

If there’s a crack in your Bridge (2nd Gen) case

Disconnect your Ring Bridge (2nd Gen) from power and replace it with another device. After you replace it with another Sidewalk gateway device, your lights will automatically reconnect to the best available gateway.
